    Perfect Music Recipe

    Throughout the course of our relationship I always try to drop some knowledge on clients if possible because I believe an informed industry is a better industry.  Understanding the philosophy behind the music selections at a wedding is a concept that sometimes requires a little extra explanation.  If you like Slayer and your significant other likes Radiohead but your guests like Fleetwood Mac, we can make it work, we just might need some additional discussion.

    Coming up in 2017

    In an industry as competitive and cutthroat as entertainment, authenticity is hard to come by. Longevity is even harder.

    When I first started Modern Events Solutions in 2009, my vision was simple: to bring my experience DJing for some of the hottest nightclubs around the world and diverse musical knowledge to creating and enhancing the ambience at corporate and private events. Over the years MES has delivered on this vision to a variety of clients, from large brands like Red Bull and Adidas to families and newlyweds. Throughout this journey our “secret sauce” for success has had two essential ingredients: professionalism and experience.

    In addition to an updated Press Kit, we’ll be releasing a fresh promotional video to showcase our unique strengths that can’t be bought or faked, and that set MES apart. Going onto our eighth year the future is looking promising as we strengthen our existing relationships and make new friends.

    Saving Money?

    In the DJ world, the saying goes “Good DJs aren’t cheap and cheap DJs aren’t good”.  When wedding and event vendors talk shop, we all agree that you get what you pay for.  Unfortunately, a lot of times people don’t see the value in what might be considered an expensive vendor.  This is one of our favorite articles breaking down the cost of quality wedding photography.  There are a lot of parallels between this article and the DJ world.  Food for thought…

    School Dance Decline

    As a company that services a wide variety of events in many different places, we definitely get to see trends and changes firsthand.  We can always tell what changes from season to season with Mitzvahs, weddings and most importantly, school functions.  High school kids definitely have tastes that change the quickest and sometimes the most drastic.  Social media and smartphones have connected people with a consistency that has taken some of the excitement out of actual gatherings.

    Recently we’ve noticed a few articles published about declining attendance at school dances.  The Business Insider article below is probably the most eye-opening one we’ve read.  Years from now there will undoubtedly be an avalanche of studies published on how smartphone and social media addiction adversely affect social skills and relationships but schools cancelling dances because children would rather stay home and text is an obvious current problem.  We service quite a few functions where parents designate the party to be a “cell phone free” zone.  After all, you’ve got a professional photographer to take photos and all your friends are right there, right?

      You want to have the best dance party you've ever had at your wedding?! Great! Hire DJ Zimmie! We first saw him at our friend's wedding and immediately decided to hire him for ours. He expertly managed all the sound needs for our wedding and helped us think through the flow of how the party would go and kept that flow running perfectly.       We loved working with DJ Zimmie. From our first meeting, to our e-mail correspondence leading up to the wedding, to the day-of he was always professional, responsive, and very easy to work with. And the music he played was perfect! Our wedding was on a summer afternoon on a 95 degree day and despite the heat, he had our guests of all ages up and dancing all afternoon. So many of our friends told us how much they loved the music!

      DJ Zimmie is the definition of awesome. If you're looking to have the most amazing wedding that all of your friends and family will talk about and remember forever there is literally no better choice for a DJ. Zimmie has a super cool vibe that he brings to your event but is also SUPER professional, organized, and knows what he is doing. Zimmie took all of our quirky requests into consideration when laying out the plans for our event - he wanted to make sure that our wedding was a reflection of us. Not only did Zimmie pick and curate the perfect musical selections for the "party" portion of our evening but he coordinated lighting, sound, photography, setup, and videography with all of our other vendors. Most importantly - Zimmie can read a crowd - the dance floor was literally the most packed I've ever seen for a wedding the ENTIRE night (dancing started at 10pm and went until 2am) - people were dancing all the way back to the bar. Everyone at our wedding kept asking us "where did you find this guy??" If you want to have a wedding where everyone has the best time and talks about it forever - go with Zimmie.

      We used DJ Zimmie for a corporate event and he was an absolute joy to work with from start to finish. He was professional, poignant, well-spoken and really listened to our vision (the event was outside, in a public place so it was a little different than the average, run of the mill event.) More than anything, i think the thing we really appreciated was the fact that Zimmie was respectful of our time. He did what he said he was going to do WHEN he said he was going to do it - so refreshing! The event was such a success we booked him immediately for 2015, and we can't wait to work with him again!

      DJ Zimmie was incredible! Our guest loved him so much and we were impressed with how he was able to quickly understand our vibe after a few phone conversations, make helpful suggestions to the timeline and music (such as cutting the songs to make the timing make sense in our intro song and recessional) and keep the party going in a way that felt natural throughout the evening. We had a New Year's wedding and he helped give ideas on having a champagne toast at midnight and projected the ball drop. We heard about him after attending a friend's wedding and knew we had to try and have him for ours! After our wedding a friend also got his info for their wedding next year. Highly recommend!

      DJ Zimmie is the best ever! Throughout the planning process he was great at offering timing suggestions, but wasn't overbearing in any way. We appreciated his honest feedback about how long dinner, speeches, first dances etc take since this was our first rodeo and he has done it way more! Zimmie was quickly responsive to any and all questions via email leading up to the wedding day and was totally on top of coordinating with the venue and our event coordinator. On the day of I was so touched on the wedding day when he came over during a break in conversation before dinner was served just to ask me and my wife how we were doing and if there was anything he could do for us. He listened to all our music suggestions but truly had fun with the crowd and played music I wouldn't have thought to suggest but absolutely LOVED. After giving him a list of our favorite songs he completely understood our vibe and kept the crowd dancing all night! We also appreciated that he only made necessary announcements and really made it about the event and the music without throwing in any extra commentary on the microphone. As a LGBTQ couple we were so appreciative of how inclusive all of Zimmie's communication with us was. All forms and verbal communication had language that never included the bride/groom etc. The day flowed seamlessly and there was never a moment we thought there could be awkwardness when announcing the double father daughter dance or any other things that made our wedding uniquely ours. We would highly recommend booking DJ Zimmie for an affordability and top notch services. He is not only great to work with, but is also just a really cool guy who we were so happy to share our special day with.

      DJ Zimmie was an amazing DJ and MC for our wedding. Not only did he play a variety of music that everyone enjoyed, but he worked with other vendors to ensure the day went smooth. He also checked in on us (the bride and groom) to see if we needed anything or if there was anything we could help with. His timing during the ceremony was spot on, all equipment worked and functioned without issue and his assistant was also awesome as well. Thank you!!

      There is a reason why Modern Event Solutions and DJ Zimmie have raving 5 star reviews. He truly is the best DJ and MC in the biz. I’m a wedding photographer and have worked with Zimmie and witnessed how he packs a dance floor, so when it came time to plan my own wedding it was no question who I wanted to have as our DJ. We had a non traditional wedding ceremony precessional with several toddlers (chaos) and unusual music choices and he made it happen for us without a hitch. And when it came time for dancing, Zimmie got everyone on the floor immediately, pretty much as soon as formal dances were over everyone flooded in to dance and didn’t stop til the last song. It was exactly what we wanted. I’ve always known the importance of having a professional DJ your wedding but Zimmie really goes above and beyond. If you want someone who is great at communicating, listens to what you want, and isn’t one of those traditional cheesy wedding DJs, then contact him first. You won’t regret it.

      Zimmie was the absolute most amazing DJ for our August wedding. Our number one hope was that we'd have a packed dance floor and Zimmie delivered. He knew exactly what we wanted and made suggestions on what he thought would be best. Three months later we still hear from our guests that this was the best wedding music they've ever heard. We wish we could do the dance party all over again. Stop your DJ search, hire Zimmie.

      You will get more than you can imagine! We are an older couple getting married for the second time and we had no idea what we wanted. Zimmie was the best! He played all the great dance songs that we have listened to for ever. Our venue was out doors and we had 70 people. He did everything from making announcements to keeping everyone dancing all night and playing whatever everybody wanted. We love him and feel like we could be apart of our extended family. Zimmie, when can you come for dinner? :-) Enjoy every minute he is with you...

      We just got married on Sept 1 and DJ Zimmie was incredible! I wanted to make sure there was enough of a mix of songs that both the younger and the older people would be able to dance to and he nailed it. He knows exactly how to read a crowd and make sure there’s always the right amount of energy on the dance floor. Countless people have told me how amazing he was that night and how they couldn’t take a break from the dancing because every song that came on was better than the last. I wanted a serious dance party for our wedding and we got it! My only regret is we can’t throw a party like that every weekend!

      Modern Event Solutions and DJ Zimmie were the absolute best. I knew that I wanted him as my DJ before I event proposed to my now wife. He played the music that I absolutely love. I gave him songs that we like and he crafted a magical night of music that was so perfect. I can't recommend Modern Event Solutions enough!       DJ Zimmie came highly recommended from a friend who makes wedding videos and had worked two weddings with him. He definitely did not disappoint! He was extremely helpful and reachable leading up to the big day and went above and beyond at the wedding. Highly recommend!

      If I could give DJ Zimmie ten stars I would. I do many events a year and only will deal with the best in each field for the vendors I chose. I rarely recommend people, and only will do so for the people I truly trust and value, DJ Zimmie is consistently a champion in customer service and a titleholder at producing the perfect party. I can't rave enough about Zimmie, I have changed the date of the events to ensure his presence! I wouldn’t have a party without him! I have had young and old, rich and poor, wallflowers and socialites and only Zimmie keeps them on the floor all night. He can read the party and keep it going well into the night.       We could not have asked for a better DJ for our wedding! We wanted our wedding to have a party atmosphere and we wanted our guests to stay out on the dance floor all night. With DJ Zimmie both became a reality. His music selection was outstanding and he had all of the generations out on the dance floor! Not only is DJ Zimmie an amazing DJ, he is also organized and professional. He took the time to get to know us, as well as provided us with feedback and recommendations to make our night one to remember! We highly recommend using DJ Zimmie for any wedding or event.       We hired DJ Zimmie on a recommendation from another vendor, never having even met him in person until our wedding night. He was extremely responsive via email throughout the planning process, offering to get on Skype with us when necessary and providing some really good suggestions on our timeline for the day. The day of the wedding, he was there early, checked in with everyone and then threw an absolutely killer party. I've never seen a DJ read a crowd better -- we had 150 people on the dance floor for 2.5 solid hours. Three weeks later, we are still getting compliments on our DJ from guests old and young. In fact, another couple at our wedding liked him so much they've now reached out to him about their celebration. I've genuinely never seen people have more fun at a wedding and I think Zimmie set the whole tone. LOVED that he is not your typical cheesy wedding DJ -- he wasn't on the mic unnecessarily throughout the night and we avoided all the terrible wedding dance traditions (i.e. the chicken dance). We like to think we have pretty eclectic music taste and there wasn't a song that he played that I wasn't thrilled to dance to. He was mixing his own music on the spot too! Absolutely could not recommend him more and I think his prices were a steal for someone of his talent level.

      DJ Zimmie did an amazing job providing the entertainment (music) for our wedding! With the small playlist and few random songs we suggested, he was able to produce a whole night of great music for our special day! We were impressed and very grateful, a good time was had by all! We would recommend him to anyone for any event that needs some great entertainment! Thanks again, DJ Zimmie!!
