Jon & Lindsay

29th October, 2014

“I can’t stress enough how much different and dull my wedding would have been without DJ Zimmie. He so incredibly understood and delivered exactly what we asked for and what we didn’t ask for. We knew we didn’t want the typical wedding music with the Sinatra, Martin, etc. My husband and I love 90′s hip-hop, we both have been working in bars/clubs since that era so we wanted music to reflect one of the things that we bonded over. He played non-explicit samples from explicit songs that we all know and love. He read the crowd and gave them what they wanted and always kept us surprised with what came next. It was the best music I’ve heard at a wedding and so many of my guests agreed, one of which is a wedding DJ herself.

Zimmie is a great person, a talented DJ, and he should probably just have a PhD in music. We are already talking about sending him a deposit for our kids’ graduation parties.”

Katy and Gautam’s Surprise Tango

14th October, 2014

At a wedding we recently DJ’d, the bride and groom unleashed an amazing rehearsed Tango as their first dance.  We see a lot of cool first dance ideas but this might be the most impressive thus far.  Shout out to Syncopated Pictures for the video.

IREM Testimonial

5th September, 2014

“We used DJ Zimmie for a business award ceremony for IREM (The Institute of Real Estate Management). He worked with me for several months to incorporate music with every award and was SPOT ON while people were gaining their accolades. He was professional and a lot of fun making our event really stand out.   I heard nothing but praise following the event and I wouldn’t hesitate to use him again for an event that needs music to make it a great night!”

Saving Money?

12th August, 2014

In the DJ world, the saying goes “Good DJs aren’t cheap and cheap DJs aren’t good”.  When wedding and event vendors talk shop, we all agree that you get what you pay for.  Unfortunately, a lot of times people don’t see the value in what might be considered an expensive vendor.  This is one of our favorite articles breaking down the cost of quality wedding photography.  There are a lot of parallels between this article and the DJ world.  Food for thought…

Exchange Ballroom

5th August, 2014

Last week was the grand opening of the Exchange Ballroom & Cascade Rooftop on Portland’s east side.  MES was on site providing the soundtrack and the VT Group (Vibrant Table, Food In Bloom, F&B Cafe) handled food and libations.  Attendees included the who’s who of the local event scene and featured a tango after party.

If you’re looking for a venue, the Exchange Ballroom is adaptable to almost any situation and the Cascade Rooftop has a breathtaking 360 degree view of Portland.  Click the photo below to view more photos from the party and learn more about the Exchange Ballroom & Cascade Rooftop HERE.
